The Philadelphia Eagles traded up in the NFL Draft and will select second overall. Most draft experts expect them to draft a quarterback. After hearing the news about the trade, Eagle’s quarterback Sam Bradford would like to be traded. According to ESPN, Bradford will not show up to their offseason program. Could he be the next quarterback in Denver?
Sam Bradford has been in the NFL for the past six seasons. He has suited up for two teams, the St. Louis Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles. Bradford has thrown for a total of 14,790 yards, 78 touchdowns and 52 interceptions. That is a respectable touchdown to interception ratio. Bradford sees the football field well and finds the open receiver. He rarely throws the football into double coverage because he knows if he does that, the ball may be intercepted. Last year, Bradford threw for 3,725 yards, 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his first season with the Eagles.
The downside with Sam Bradford is his injury history. In his second season, 2011, he missed 6 games due to a high ankle sprain. 2013 Bradford appeared in 7 games but tore his ACL in his left knee. The very next season he tore the same ACL and didn’t play a single down all year.
Bradford demonstrated that he could play at a high level and lead a football team last season. The Eagles went 7-9, missing the playoffs by two games. The Eagles rewarded Bradford with a two-year, $36 million deal with $26 million guaranteed.
The Denver Broncos shouldn’t even think about making a trade for Bradford. He hasn’t been able to stay healthy as a starter. Bradford would be a bad fit to run the Gary Kubiak offense because he is not an under-center mobile quarterback. He loves to use the shotgun.
The other big hurdle would be his salary. The Denver Broncos don’t have a lot of cap space and his salary number would be too much. The Broncos would need Bradford to take a pay cut. The Broncos are better off drafting a quarterback.
What should the Broncos do now that Sam Bradford wants a trade?
BIG NO ON SAM
The Broncos called today to ask the price. It was too high so yes I agree no on Bradford.
