Time To Move The Pro Bowl, Let Cities Bid For The Game

The NFL All-Star Game, the Pro Bowl could have a new home for 2017. Orlando, Florida, is interested in hosting the game playing and it in the Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium. According to CBSsports.com CEO of Florida Citrus Sports Steve Hogan said, “We’ve been very aggressively trying to showcase Orlando. We believe it is the best city to host the Pro Bowl, and the NFL has given us the opportunity to pitch our city. We hope when all is said and done, we’re going to be hosting the game.” Would this make sense?

The Pro Bowl has been played in Hawaii from 1980 until this year. The few years in recent memory it wasn’t played in Hawaii were 2010 and 2015. 2010 Miami hosted it and 2015 Phoenix was the site since both of these cities had the Super Bowl the next week. It seems the NFL athletes enjoy going to Hawaii. The weather is always perfect and sunny. It is somewhat of a vacation for them to enjoy. The game itself isn’t really an NFL game because the rules are different. Sure fans will see their favorite players but it’s just not the same.

Orlando showing interest isn’t a bad idea. They aren’t the only city. Sydney, Australia, also wants to bid to host the game but would be longer travel. NFL players would lose a day going there.

It might be a good idea to move the game around. Not many cities can host the Super Bowl so the Pro Bowl is the next best event. Orlando doesn’t have an NFL team and this would provide an opportunity for football fans to watch NFL talent. Moving the Pro Bowl could allow the NFL to see how much interest there is in the NFL in other cities and countries. Hawaii is nice but allow others to bid for it.

What do you think about moving the Pro Bowl around? Where should it be played?
