Super Bowl Bets

Super Bowl XLIX is on Sunday. According to boydsbets.com, last year there was $119.4 million wagered in Las Vegas on the Super Bowl. There is a lot to gamble on this year. The obvious bet is which team will win the Super Bowl. New England is favored to win the game by a point. There are numerous prop bets.

The coin toss is a 50-50 shot. That’s probably the best prop bet. In years past the coin has landed on heads or tails 24 times each. Six out of the last eight Super Bowls landed on heads.   There are two other 50-50 risks. Between the coaches Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick, which one will be mentioned first after kickoff and who will be shown first on television.

We all know Belichick loves to wear a hoodie. The question is will he have the sleeves cut or intact? Will he wear a gray, blue, or red hoodie?

Idina Menzel is singing the national anthem. Gamblers put money on how long her national anthem will be. Another wager is will she forget any words while singing?

The owners for both teams will be at the game. Who will be shown more on television?   Paul Allen, the owner of the Seattle Seahawks, has better odds at 3 to 2. Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, is at 1 to 2 odds of being shown more.

Katy Perry is the halftime performer. A stake can be made on what she will be wearing and her hair color. Will she wear a skirt, dress, pants, or shorts? The hair color choices are black, brown, pink, blue, green, blonde, and purple. Money can be put on the song she will sing first. The best odds are her song Firework and Roar.

One of the more interesting wagers is what color of Gatorade will be poured on the winning coach. Orange has been drenched on the coach in three of the last five Super Bowls. That is the favorite. Other colors we might see are yellow, clear, and green. Green is the least favorite. These are just a few of the many prop bets in the Super Bowl.
