The NHL trade deadline is February 26th. The Arizona Coyotes are looking to shop center Max Domi. Domi is going to be a restricted free agent this summer. The Coyotes are sellers since they are an NHL worst 12-32-9 for 33 points. This should be a forward the Bruins are interested in.
Domi is not a goal scorer but can set up his teammates. This season he has 3 goals and 19 assists for 22 points). In his career so far he has 30 goals and 82 assists for 112points. Domi can play on the power play and full strength.
On the power play, Domi sets up near the net. Here he can tip the puck past the goaltender or find his teammates for scoring chances. More times than not, it ends in power play goals while he is on the ice. Domi has a total of 3 power play goals and 25 power play assists.
On full strength he is able to skate around the defensemen for scoring chances. If Domi doesn’t score, he will feed to an open skater. The goaltender will be out of position and allow his teammates to score.
The Bruins could use more offense heading into the playoff run. Domi fits in well with this team. At center the Bruins have Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Riley Nash. All of them can put the puck past the goaltender.
The Bruins need to make a move for Domi. After Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Riley Nash they have Sean Kuraly. Kuraly is not the player Max Domi is. Kuraly scored 3 goals and 5 assists for a total of 8 points this year. Adding Domi gives them more depth.
The Bruins wouldn’t have to give up that much for Domi. His salary is only $863,333, not a lot for his skill set. All it would take for the Bruins to trade for him is a draft pick which is more than enough. Domi could play on the power play and the 3rd or 4th line for the Bruins. It is worth the call to see what Arizona wants back for Domi.
