Chip Kelly The Next Head Coach Of The San Francisco 49ers?

The San Francisco 49ers head coaching job is open. The 49ers finished the season with a 19-16 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday improving their record to 5-11. Jim Tomsula was fired after the game. It was his only season as head coach. According to ESPN 49ers CEO Jed York said, “Jimmy has been a valuable member of the 49ers organization for the last nine years. We all know he is a man of high character, and his contributions on the field and in our community have always been greatly appreciated. This entire organization is proud and grateful to have worked so closely alongside Jimmy. We all wish him and his family great success in the future.”

The 49ers will now be looking to interview coaches for the position. One coach is available who makes a lot of sense, Chip Kelly. Kelly was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles on December 29, 2015, spending three seasons there with a record of 26-21 with one playoff appearance. He was responsible for all the moves on the roster.

The 49ers seem like they want a coach with NFL experience. Si.com stated that Chip Kelly is interested in the job. He has NFL coaching experience even though it’s only three years. Kelly wouldn’t have to make moves to improve the team which is San Francisco 49ers’ General Manager Trent Baalke’s job. Kelly would just need to concentrate on coaching.

Chip Kelly runs an up-tempo offense. He never had the quarterback in Philadelphia to run that offense. If the San Francisco 49ers keep Colin Kaepernick, he could be the right fit to run Kelly’s style of offense. The 49ers should look into Chip Kelly and interview him. Of course, this process will take a few weeks before the 49ers decide who the next coach is.

What do you think of Chip Kelly’s interest in coaching the San Francisco 49ers?
