Bo Nix And Jayden Daniels Top Candidates For NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Year Award

By Jordan Long

The NFL season will start week 12 when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night.  One of the top awards for the NFL is the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.  There are two front runners, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix.

Daniels plays for the Washington Commanders.  Washington selected Daniels with the #2 pick in this year’s draft.  To this point, Daniels has led Washington to a 7-4 record, second in the NFC East.  The Philadelphia Eagles are on top with an 8-2 record. Washington is currently the #7 seed in the NFC playoff picture, looking to earn a playoff spot for the first time since 2020.

Daniels is the reason Washington is playing so well. His completion percentage is an outstanding 68.7%. Daniels tossed for 2,338 yards and 10 touchdowns to this point. He sees the field well and does not force the ball into coverage, with just 3 interceptions.

Nix, on the other hand, was drafted by the Denver Broncos with the #12 pick. The Broncos are 6-5, third in the AFC West Division, and currently the 7th seed in the AFC playoffs. Denver is trying to end a playoff drought that goes back to Super Bowl 50, the last time they earned a playoff spot.

Nix’s completion percentage is less than Daniels at 65.5%.  He has thrown for 2,275 yards. Daniels is ahead of Nix by 63 yards. Nix is better at throwing the ball to his receivers in the endzone, with 14 or 4 more than Daniels.  Nix is also careful with the football, with six interceptions.

Daniels seems to be the favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year Award right now.  His numbers show he should be.   Daniels and Nix are playing great football, which they hope to continue for the rest of the season.  It will make it difficult for the voters to choose one over the other.
