By Jordan Long

The Colorado Rockies are 69-77 starting a three game series against the Padres tomorrow. Despite their record, next year’s schedule was released on Wednesday. Let’s take a deeper look at 2017.

The Colorado Rockies will once again start the season on the road. They will face the Milwaukee Brewers for a 4 game set from April 3rd to the 6th. The first home game to mark on the calendar is Friday April 7th when they face the Dodgers, the start of a 6 game home stand.

The Rockies have interleague series at Coors Field. In May they take on the Seattle Mariners. The Cleveland Indians take the trip to Colorado for a quick 2 game set on June 6th and 7th.   The Southside of Chicago, the White Sox, invade Coors Field in July. The final interleague series at home is against the Detroit Tigers from August 28 to the 30th. When they go on the road for interleague play, the Rockies will head to Cleveland, Kansas City, and Minnesota.

Baseball involves a lot of travel throughout the baseball season. Colorado’s longest road trip is 10 games in three different cities, which includes Minnesota, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia. It occurs from May 16th to May 25th. The longest home stand of the year is 10 games. This will be from May 5th to May 14th. The Rockies will face the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, and the L.A. Dodgers.

One of the more exciting times of the year could come if the Rockies are contending for a playoff spot. This way the Rockies are playing meaningful games in September. The season will end October 1st against the Dodgers. The Rockies still have work to do here in 2016 with 16 games left but it is never too early to flip the page and look forward to 2017.
