The Denver Broncos have found their answer at quarterback signing Case Keenum. The deal is expected to be 2-years and at least $36 million. This is in hopes of Denver making the playoffs in 2018.
Keenum may not be the top quarterback on the market, but he is valuable for the Broncos. He owns a career record of 20-18 which isn’t impressive. Keenum played at a high level last year with his best record as starter at 11-3 in the regular season. In those games he tossed for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in the regular season. Keenum was able to find his receivers and not force the football into double coverage. The Vikings went all the way to the NFC Championship game because of his play.
The Broncos were in the market for a quarterback. General Manager John Elway wanted a veteran quarterback because of his team’s problems under center last season. Keenum brings that to Denver. Keenum will improve the Denver Broncos at the quarterback position. He protects the football and finds his open receivers. He has two tall targets to throw to in Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas.
Keenum fits the Denver Broncos offense. Besides throwing the football, he will have a running game that opens up the passing game. If he needs to, he can use his legs to gain yards.
The Broncos should be excited about landing Keenum. He may improve the offense and read the defenses to have Denver in the right play. This is a step to make the playoffs in 2018. If Keenum doesn’t play well, at least it is only a 2-year deal contract.
Now that Denver has landed a quarterback, the next step is to rebuild the offensive line. It was awful last year. It didn’t matter who was under center because the quarterbacks were running for their lives. Denver allowed 52 sacks, far too many. They must find linemen to protect Keenum. If they don’t, it could be another long year. At least signing Keenum is the first step and hopefully Elway can find players to protect him.
What do you think of the Denver Broncos agreeing to contract with Case Keenum?
Very interesting. Best wishes to Denver fans. It takes a team. What about the rest of the line-up and depth?
