Most NFL training camps will open on July 27th followed by preseason games. Each team will play 3 of them. Once that is completed, the regular season begins on September 8th when the Buffalo Bills head to L.A. to take on the Rams. There is one player who is expecting to continue his career, defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. He has one place in mind as a landing spot.
Suh has played in the NFL since the 2010 season and with four franchises, Detroit, Miami, the L.A. Rams, and Tampa Bay. With the Detroit Lions Suh spent 2010 to 2014. His top year for them was in his rookie year with 10 sacks. He totaled 36 in his time with the Lions. Suh was able to wrap up a runner with 238 tackles with 2 forced fumbles.
Suh moved on to Miami from 2015 to 2017. He didn’t come close to the same production but was still able to take down quarterbacks 15.5 times. Suh added 181 tackles and 2 forced fumbles.
Once 2017 ended, Suh agreed to a 1 year deal with the Rams. He played well with 4.5 sacks. Suh totaled 59 tackles. The Rams, though, decided not to re-sign him which made him a free agent. He went to Tampa Bay, agreeing to a one year deal but he did that 3 more times with Tampa Bay. Of course, he won Super Bowl 55 with the franchise. In the past 3 years for Tampa Bay, Suh was fairly productive with 14.5 sacks and 112 tackles. For whatever reason, Tampa Bay decided to let him go following their Divisional Round loss to the Rams.
According to CBSsports.com, Suh said, “It looks like the Bucs are out of the picture.”
This is not a surprise. They have already found his replacement in Akiem Hicks. Hicks has played 11 years in the NFL. He has 40.5 sacks and 250 tackles.
Suh would like to keep playing in the NFL. He still has a lot left in the tank. There is one team he would like to go to, the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders could use a player like Suh. Last year, the Raiders had a total of 35 sacks, 20th in the league. That number could be even higher with Suh.
The Raiders haven’t said if they are interested. If so, it could be a match. Their defense could use a Suh making it even more dangerous. The Raiders have the cap space at around $21.604 million, more than enough to sign Suh for one year. The worst case is it just doesn’t work out. The Raiders haven’t said if they have interest in him. For now though, Suh is still exploring his options.
