Houston Astros Rally Around 8-Year Old Chloe

By Jordan Long

The Houston Astros have already clinched the American League West Division title.  They will face the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division series.  Last Sunday, they defeated the L.A. Angels 6-2.  There was an incident at the game that should never have occurred.  In a twitter video, an 8 year-old named Chloe was cheering for the Astros.  A lady in front of her turned around and told her “enough.”  Chloe didn’t cheer the rest of the game.  She has Disruptive Dysregulation Disorder.  According to msn.com, this means she can’t comprehend emotions greater than that of a toddler.

The fan was wrong to tell her to stop cheering.  People go to sporting events to support their team,  which is all Chloe was doing.  It is not a library where a person has to be silent and be able to “hear a pin drop.”  Her parents brought her so she could see her favorite team defeat the Angels.

If this lady didn’t like what Chloe was yelling, leave.  She didn’t have to stay the whole ball game if it bothered her that much. I am sure if there was an adult behind her making a racket, she wouldn’t have said anything.  Why did she think it was right to say something to a kid?

There are only two sports where making noise during play is not allowed, tennis and golf.   Fans of tennis clap after a point or once the match is over. For golf, patrons wait until a putt or a great shot to roar.

The Astros are supporting Chloe and telling her to come to the playoffs.  They are trying to get her and her family tickets to game 1 of the American League Division Series.  Hopefully, Chloe is able to attend the game.  This whole story should be a lesson to fans who go to games.  Fans are not quiet and will continue to be noisy.  No one should tell you the appropriate time to cheer.
