The Boston Red Sox are well into Spring Training. The starting pitching rotation could use some work. They have two top pitchers in Chris Sale and David Price. After them, the lineup is weak. There is one pitcher still out there who could help this team, free agent pitcher Alex Cobb.
Cobb spent the last 6 years in Tampa Bay. His record was an impressive 48-35 with a 3.50 ERA. Cobb would bolster the rotation pitching in the third spot. He can win games and is able to strike batters out. He has a total of 570 strikeouts in his career. Cobb will not take risks and leave the ball up in the zone. That doesn’t allow batters to smack home runs, giving up only 65.
The only downside is his walks. He will throw the baseball low or outside. Hitters won’t swing at those and take the free pass. He gave up 204 walks.
Cobb is still waiting for a deal. The Red Sox need to place the call. They know in order to make a World Series, the starters are the key. They aren’t ready to make a postseason run with only Sale and Price. Cobb is the answer. He can win at least 10 to 12 games this season taking pressure off of Price and Sale.
The Red Sox must pick up the phone. They can’t wait. Cobb is waiting for an offer from any team. He is the type of pitcher every team could use because of his ability to use his command effectively. The time is now for the Red Sox to make a deal with Cobb. He is the answer for the starting rotation. It would be a shame if the Sox didn’t make an offer. Hopefully the Red Sox will reach an agreement with Cobb but the time is now.
