Tensions High In Miami After Dolphins 59-10 Loss To The Baltimore Ravens

By Jordan Long

The 1st Sunday of the NFL is in the books.  The biggest drubbing was by the Baltimore Ravens who beat the Miami Dolphins 59-10.  Baltimore scored in every quarter while the Dolphins only points were in the 2nd quarter.  The Dolphins were booed off the field by their hometown crowd.

This was a huge loss for the Dolphins.  The defense never seemed to make adjustments and allowed Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson to pick them apart.  Jackson ended with 324 yards passing and 5 touchdowns.

In the aftermath of the game, the Dolphins defense is looking for answers.  They gave up 643 yards, 378 of them through the air.   Miami’s offense wasn’t effective.  Their total yards were 200.  It didn’t help they turned the ball over 3 times.  Giving up that many yards and turning the ball over 3 times is not a recipe for success.

This was the first game for Head Coach Brian Flores in Miami.  The Dolphins were simply outplayed and outcoached.  That is on Flores.  He didn’t have a great game plan and it showed.   The players weren’t prepared and one has to wonder what they did in practice all week.

There were several unnamed Dolphins’ players who are unhappy with the game and coaching staff.  These athletes have called their agents and have asked for a trade.  USAtoday.com stated, “the players believe that the coaching staff, despite claiming that they intend to try to win, aren’t serious about competing and winning and by all appearances have bought into the notion that the Dolphins will take their lumps now in the hopes of laying the foundation via high draft picks for building a successful team later.”  According to msn.com, “the Dolphins have said no player has requested a trade.”

These athletes who called their agents to ask for a trade should be ashamed of themselves.  It was a bad game, but these things happen in the NFL.  Sure it was the biggest blowout so far in week 1 but it is only week 1.  These players are thinking the season is over but there are still 15 weeks to go.  The Dolphins can improve by looking at the tape.  They will make adjustments for week 2 when they host the New England Patriots.

If these players are still unhappy, the trade deadline isn’t until October 29th which is after week 8.   This is when the Dolphins can deal these players who called their agents.  They need to ride out these first 8 weeks.  By week 8, the Dolphins should know if they are going to compete for a playoff spot or a high draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
