The Boston Celtics lead the best of 7 over the Milwaukee Bucks 2-0. The series now shifts to Milwaukee for games 3 and 4. Game 3 is tonight. The Celtics hope to earn a victory to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
Boston won game 1 by 6 points. It went into overtime and they outscored the Bucks 14-8 in the extra session. Game 2 the Celtics made sure it didn’t go into overtime with a 120-106 triumph.
Boston has been successful so far because of their offense. In 2 games they are averaging 116.5 points per game. It helps they are shooting 47.3% . Beyond the 3 point line, the Bucks aren’t able to stop them from scoring making 42.1% of them.
Defensively the Bucks score 106.5 points per game. The Celtics need to play better defense. They are allowing too many easy passes and wide open looks. Milwaukee is taking advantage. They are shooting 53.8%, a pretty decent percentage but the Celtics are making it difficult for them to fire from 3-point range. Milwaukee still hits on 39.5% of their 3’s.
The area Boston needs to work on is their free throws and rebounds. The Celtics are not taking advantage of free throws making 77.8%. They need take advantage when Milwaukee fouls them. Luckily for the Celtics, Milwaukee isn’t making their free throws at only 63.4%. The Celtics have to be more aggressive on the glass and box out. They grab 41.5 rebounds per game, only 1.5 rebounds more than Milwaukee.
Looking at these games on the road, the Celtics have to be improved on rebounds. If they can box out, those rebounds may lead to fast break points to increase their lead. The Celtics don’t have to change a thing on offense. They are playing their game.
Game 3 is going to be a must win for Milwaukee. Milwaukee is going to play with energy and try to go on long scoring runs which may decide the game. The Celtics have to weather the storm at the start. Once that happens, they can settle in with streaks of points of their own. It is going to be a tight game and hopefully the Celtics come out on top to take a commanding 3 games to 0 lead.
