Tim Lincecum’s Tries For Another Baseball Comeback, Time For Him To Walk Away

By Jordan Long

Pitcher Tim Lincecum is trying for another Major League Baseball comeback. He will throw for scouts next week in attempt to show that he is healthy. It will take place at Driveline Research Lab which is located near Seattle. Lincecum hasn’t play baseball at the Major League level since 2016 when he was with the Angels.

Lincecum feels at age 33, he has something left in the tank. In his prime Lincecum was one of the top pitchers in all of baseball. Hitters feared him because of his ability to strike batters out. Lincecum is not the pitcher he once was. When Lincecum pitched his stint with the Angels in 2016 it didn’t last long. He started in 9 games and his record was 2-6 with an ERA of 9.16. He left the ball in the middle of the zone for easy home runs, giving up 11.

Lincecum needs to prove to scouts he can still throw. If he is able to do that, then maybe Lincecum will be offered a minor league contract with a chance to join a Major League Baseball team during the season. He might be invited to Spring Training.

Lincecum is better off retiring. It is difficult for a baseball player to leave the game. Lincecum has won 110 regular season games in his 10-year MLB career with an ERA of 3.74 and he struck out 1,736 batters. In the postseason Lincecum owns a 5-2 record with a 2.40 ERA.

Lincecum has done as much in Major League Baseball most athletes dream about. He owns 3 World Series rings, all with the San Francisco Giants. Lincecum was a 2-time Cy Young winner for being the best pitcher in the National League. To top it off, he was voted into 4 All-Star Games. There is nothing left for him to prove. If this latest MLB comeback fails, it will be time to hang up his glove.

What do you think of Tim Lincecum’s latest MLB comeback?
