Tim Tebow’s NFL Dream

Tim Tebow still wants to be an NFL quarterback. He hasn’t given up his dream. His last down of football was during the 2012 season when he was with the New York Jets. He has been working with quarterback guru Tom House in Los Angeles for the past two years on his throwing accuracy. Tebow hopes to try out at the inaugural NFL Veteran Combine. The Veteran Combine is inviting 100 NFL free agents. This will range from players who had been starters in the league to athletes who are one year out of college and haven’t played a down in the NFL. They will go through similar drills as the NFL Rookie Combine. This is in hopes to land in an NFL training camp and show off their football skills. Should Tim Tebow even consider playing quarterback at the NFL level?

The Denver Broncos drafted Tebow in 2010 in the first round. His rookie year, he played in nine games. He had 82 pass attempts and completed 41 of them, a completion percentage of 50%.   In 2011, Tebow was the Broncos’ starter for 14 games and led them to an 8-8 record. They won the AFC West Division and knocked off the Steelers in the Wild Card round. He completed only 46.5% of his passes that season. His last year of playing came in 2012 for the New York Jets. He had only eight pass attempts but six of them were caught.

The problem with Tim Tebow is he isn’t a quarterback who can be successful in this league. He has the height, at 6 feet 3 inches, but Tebow has never been accurate throwing the football. The only way Tebow can have success in the NFL is if he changes positions. He is built perfectly for a fullback. He runs enough to be able to gain short yards for a first down or a touchdown. He could also be the lead blocker for a running back. He is big enough for a quarterback to throw him the ball in the open field as a tight end. He can’t play quarterback in the NFL. Tebow seems too stubborn to change positions. It would be an adjustment to play another position other than quarterback.   If he impresses scouts at the NFL Veteran Combine on March 22nd in Tempe, Arizona, he might have another shot at his dream of competing in the NFL.

What position should Tim Tebow consider if he wants to play in the NFL?
