Tony Romo In A Different Uniform Next Season?

By Jordan Long

The Dallas Cowboys’ season ended on Sunday in the divisional round, losing to the Green Bay Packers 34-31. The Cowboys are now focused on the offseason. They are going to try to trade quarterback Tony Romo, whose cap hit next season is $24.7 million. Romo’s number one choice, the Denver Broncos, aren’t interested. Where could he land?

There are a few teams who could use Tony Romo including the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, and the Chicago Bears. If Jerry Jones wants to send Romo to a contender who could win a Super Bowl, the Cardinals are the team. They have a defense built to go far in the playoffs. Arizona has a quarterback in Carson Palmer and he would be the backup. If Palmer goes down, at least Arizona would have a backup who has played in the league.

The New York Jets and Chicago Bears are possibly in the market for a new quarterback. The Jets best quarterback on the roster is Ryan Fitzpatrick and he is now a free agent. The Jets might think about trading for Romo because he is a proven quarterback in the league. The only problem with the Jets is they are rebuilding and may not make the playoffs for a few years. It wouldn’t be worth the Jets trading draft picks for Tony Romo.

The Chicago Bears are a team who should consider Tony Romo. Jay Cutler their quarterback, is under contract for the next four years. If the Bears decide that the Cutler era is over, they will cut or trade him. This would allow the Bears to pursue a new quarterback. Romo is more careful with the football and wouldn’t turn the ball over as often. He reads defenses and finds the open receiver. This is the ideal landing spot.

If the Cowboys can’t find a trade partner for Romo, keeping him on the roster may be the best option. Dak Prescott played well this season but if he gets hurt, Romo will be ready to go into the game. He knows the offense and wouldn’t skip a beat. The Cowboys has a big decision looming on Tony Romo.

Where do you think Tony Romo will land next season?
