Trade Deadline Options For The Denver Nuggets

By Jordan Long

The NBA trade deadline is tomorrow at 1 PM Mountain Time. The Denver Nuggets are currently the 8th seed in the Western Conference. They made one deal so far before the deadline and that was to get Mason Plumlee from Portland for Jusuf Nurkic . This might be the biggest trade they do. They have two options tomorrow. The Nuggets can be buyers to improve their team this season or do nothing and see what happens the rest of the year.

Denver is a decent scoring team averaging 110.6 points per game. Scoring that many points has put them in a position to make the postseason. Not only are they scoring points but they are rebounding the basketball with a total of 12.8 rebounds per game on the offensive end. Those rebounds equal second chance points.

The area they need to improve on is defense. They allow too many easy buckets or even wide open threes. The opponents score 111.8 points per game. This is an area that is the most concern for them to make the playoffs.

When the trade deadline comes, they should look at trading for a defensive player. The Nuggets could use another forward or guard to help them on that end. A player who could steal the ball or even play better defense to make it tough on the shooter to make a basket. A veteran player may possibly help this young team learn to win big games.

The other option for the Nuggets is to do nothing. They have a young and exciting team to make a run at the 8th seed. Mason Plumlee should assist them on defense. General Manager Tim Connelly might be content on that one trade and not make any more roster moves.

The Nuggets are in a position in the second half to get the 8th seed. If they make a deal tomorrow, hopefully it will improve their team. We will have to wait and see what the Nuggets do but it wouldn’t be a surprise for them to do nothing.

What do you think the Nuggets should do at the trade deadline?
