The college football season is almost here. College games for Division 1 start September 3rd. The first full Saturday games are being played September 5th. One game being played September 5th is Notre Dame hosting Texas in South Bend, Indiana. Notre Dame is ranked #11 in the college football preseason rankings. How much could you spend to see these two teams play each other?
Tickets for an average game can be bought at UND.com for $75 dollars. Not a bad price to see a high profile college team with a long storied history. The tickets for Texas vs Notre Dame can only be bought through secondary markets since they are sold out at UND.com. There are many seats on seatgeek.com. It’s a matter of how much a fan wants to spend to see this game live.
According to seatgeek.com, the cheapest tickets in the top of end zones are $644. The most expensive ones go for about $814. They aren’t bad seats to see game action. The lower end zone tickets cost anywhere between $579 and $785. One of best places to sit at any football stadium is on the 50-yard line. This is where there is a lot of action. A fan who wants to see this game here will pay anywhere from $1,753 to $1,834. That’s just the lower bowl on the 50-yard line. On the second deck in the same section it’s a little less expensive but not much. Each seat is going for between $1,190 and $1,812. That’s a lot of money to spend on one college game. Tickets prices could be even more by kickoff time.
Because of these tickets prices, Notre Dame issued a statement about looking out for counterfeit tickets. The release said, “Counterfeit tickets include fuzzy printing, rough cuts or perforations, mismatched fronts or the absence of a three shamrock hologram with Fighting Irish leprechauns.” The press release also noted that a new trend is that some tickets printed on Ticketmaster are counterfeit. Rob Kelly, an associate athletic director at Notre Dame, said, “It’s not uncommon to see counterfeit tickets show up on game day each year. But the reports we’ve seen this year are earlier and more frequent than usual.”
The prices are ridiculous. If the average fan wants to attend in South Bend, this not the game to go to. They might as well wait for a home game that isn’t as popular and purchase tickets for a reasonable price. Also people who do want to go to this game should do their research so they know they are buying real tickets and not counterfeit tickets.
